Principles
Why Track Macro is nutrition only
Track Macro does one job: it shows what you eat against your own targets. Everything else stays out. These are the principles behind that, and what each one means in the app today.
One job, done well
If it isn’t about what you eat, it isn’t in the app. There is no water tracker, step counter, workout log, fasting timer or social feed. What is in: calories, macros, around 30 nutrients per food, supplements, a streak, and your weight from Apple Health, with your permission.
A focused app is quicker to open, faster to log in and easier to read. Each principle below follows from that.
No ads
There are no ads in Track Macro and no ad SDK in the app. When we read 7,853 App Store reviews of other calorie trackers, full-screen ads came up in 28% of the negative reviews of one of them.
No sign-up, no email
You don’t create an account or give us an email address to start logging. Your diary is stored on your iPhone.
Your whole day at a glance
Home answers one question: how is today going? Calories and macros are rings that fill as you eat. Fiber, omega-3, potassium and magnesium sit right below them, against your own targets. You shouldn’t have to tap through menus to see your day.
Micronutrients against your targets
Around 30 nutrients are recorded for each food you log, and any entry opens to its full breakdown. Your targets come from your goal and body stats, and are rebuilt when those change.
The app compares your intake with your targets. That is wellness information, not a diagnosis. We don’t claim to track the most nutrients: another popular app tracks more. Our focus is putting the ones you track where you can see them.
Your language
The app is in English, German, French, Spanish, Brazilian Portuguese and Arabic, with a right-to-left layout for Arabic. AI estimates answer in your language too. In Saudi Arabia, 45% of the negative reviews of one popular tracker were about missing Arabic.
Honest AI estimates
Snap a photo of your plate or type one line, such as “2 eggs and toast”, and the app estimates calories and macros. On iPhones with Apple Intelligence (iOS 26), typed meals are understood on your device first. Photos are estimated on our server and not kept.
An estimate is a starting point, not a measurement. You review and edit every value before you save, and we never call the results accurate. The free plan includes 3 AI estimates a day. Logging by search, barcode, custom and recent foods has no daily limit.
Readable at every age
Text follows the text size you set on your iPhone, and buttons are at least 48 points tall, so the app stays usable with larger text and less precise taps.
How we decide what to build
A feature has to help you see or log what you eat. If it needs ads to pay for it, an account to work, or a second screen to understand your day, we leave it out. When there is a gap we haven’t closed yet, we say so.
